Experience Melbourne From Your Couch

2013.10.11 Fri

I have never seen such thing like this. This campaign by Melbourne is running over just five days, from October 9-13, for about 8 hours a day (JST 8 – 18). The two navigators (1 female, 1 male) with web cameras will take you on a live tour of Melbourne through your smart phones, tablets, laptops.

You might have guessed from the name of the campaign “Remote Control Tourist”, it is literally controlled by viewers via SNS (Facebook, twitter, instagram“. The way how it works is easy, you just make request through SNS and the navigators will try it for you. For example, if you wanted to take a look at a meal at a specific restaurant, you just ask that by texting. Simple as that. You get to see the plate through their web cams so you can get an image of it. Cool isn’t it?

Melbourne has surpassed Sydney for the number of tourists and that I can agree as I was watching the live stream, it’s such a beautiful city. The navigators are very entertaining, talking to locals, commenting on everything you can imagine. Now do you feel that you have to go visit Melbourne? Yes for me.  Just jumpt to the website!
